Note that the floor area shall include the area of all the occupancies in the structure. Structural drafting for single-family houses' lateral design usually takes six hours per project.

Example 1, Forum Engineers' lateral design fee for a wood-frame single-family house with 3,800 sf dwelling and 800 sf garage will be:
$0.20 x 4,000 + $0.16 x (3,800 + 800 - 4,000) = $896.00 w/o drafting
$0.20 x 4,000 + $0.16 x (3,800 + 800 - 4,000) + $45 x 6 = $1,166.00 w/ drafting

Example 2, Forum Engineers' lateral design fee for a wood-frame single family house with 2,100 sf dwelling and 700 sf garage plus a typical steel moment frame analysis/design (3 hours) will be:
Max [$0.20 x (2,100 + 700), $640] + $90 x 5 = $1090.00 w/o drafting
Max [$0.20 x (2,100 + 700), $640] + $90 x 5 + $45 x 6 = $1,360.00 w/ drafting
